Phages attack and destroy an E. coli bacterium.

Welcome to the Exciting
World of Phage Therapy

You are about to explore a new frontier in the fight against infectious disease - a frontier defined by technology that is nearly one century old, but which remains relatively new to western eyes.

Phage therapy has been used successfully throughout the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe for almost eight decades in medicine, agriculture, and animal science.  "Phage therapy" utilizes "good" viruses called bacteriophages (commonly known as "phages") to destroy the bacteria that cause disease.  Capable of being applied in liquid, tablet, or powder form, phages obliterate the specific bacterial strains nature designed them to attack - while remaining harmless to the surrounding environment.  Unlike antibiotics, phages do not destroy "good bacteria."  And unlike antibiotics, phages do not cause side effects such as severe upset stomach, nerve damage and blood abnormalities.

Phage therapy offers a possible solution to an emerging crisis in western medicine.  A 2000 World Health Organization study found that bacterial resistance to antibiotic treatment continues to rise exponentially.  Accordingly, interest in phage therapy is increasing among commercial, educational, and government entities in Australia, Europe, the United States, and Latin America.

Advanced Biophage Technologies, LLC (ABT) is uniquely positioned to lead the effort to bring this promising technology to the mass market.  ABT is deeply rooted in the scientific expertise and rich culture of the Republic of Georgia - in fact, we trace our heritage directly to Dr. Felix d'Herelle, the French-Canadian scientist who first identified phages.  Thus, ABT possesses the connections that matter for the commercial success of phage therapy.

ABT possesses the exclusive rights to a library of approximately 3,000 industrial phages.  This library uniquely incorporates the expertise that Georgian scientists developed over 80 years as they established the "Global Center of Excellence"  for phage therapy.  ABT's exclusive access to patented technology enables us to transform this expertise into a number of commercial applications.  Phage products based on this technology have been used for decades to cure a broad array of diseases in human beings, animals, and plants throughout the former Soviet Union.

As the West discovers the extraordinary utility of phage therapy in alleviating bacteria-borne crises in medicine, agriculture, and animal science, ABT stands at the forefront - ready to tap the true potential of phages to transform our lives from the food we eat and the water we drink to the medicines we take.
